Chronic Urticaria (Hives)
Daily unexplained hives are exhausting. Systematic care to calm your skin and find your triggers.
What is Chronic Urticaria?
Chronic urticaria means recurrent hives — itchy, raised wheals that appear and fade within hours — occurring on most days for six weeks or longer, sometimes with deeper swelling (angioedema) of lips or eyelids. It can persist for months to years.
Contrary to instinct, chronic urticaria is usually not a food allergy. Most cases are autoimmune or spontaneous, which changes the strategy entirely: systematic treatment and trigger modulation, not endless food elimination.
Common Symptoms
Causes & Risk Factors
Most chronic urticaria is 'spontaneous' — often autoimmune, with antibodies activating the skin's mast cells directly. Physical triggers (pressure, heat, cold), infections, thyroid autoimmunity, stress and certain medications (aspirin, NSAIDs) can drive or worsen it. True food allergy is a rare cause of chronic (as opposed to acute) hives.
